About Me
Bio: Nova is an Illustrator, Crafter, Arts Advocate & Educator from NE Ohio. They received their BFA in Illustration, with additional concentrations in Art Education, Design, & Creative Writing from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She is currently working towards a MA of Arts Administration from the University of Akron. Through an Arts Admin Graduate Assistantship, they work as a gallery assistant in the Emily Davis Gallery within the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron. They co-volunteer run StarFall Creative Collective with the goal of supporting local artists, creating social connections and accessibility to art making. They also run an Illustration brand, Star Catcher Studio, and experiment with emotional and surreal musings through their other art works. Her passion for art also extends beyond her personal practice. In her free time, she immerses herself in the joy of baking, the tranquility of nature, and the art of writing. She aims to make a meaningful impact on the cultural landscape while nurturing her own artistic journey. They look forward to collaborating with local art organizations to support and promote Arts & Culture within her community.
Artist Statement: Their Illustration Brand, Star Catcher Studio, shares artwork created in her own storybook aesthetic inspired by fantasy and nature. This colorful breadth of work aims to 'spark joy' through whimsical designs and creations.
As an individual artist, they have begun experimenting with emotional and surreal musings through sculptural works and written expressions - inviting viewers to delve into a realm where reality intertwines with imagination.

Working towards their MA of Arts Administration from The University of Akron with a focus on Visual Arts. Received an assistantship working in the Myers Art School's Emily Davis Gallery. Hoping to build skills in community outreach, art education advocacy, and making art and art resources accessible to the NE Ohio community.

They graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2020 with a BFA in Illustration with additional 'concentrations' in Art Education, Creative Writing, Graphic Design, and Art History. Created and ran an Illustration club which focused on teaching undergrad students entrepreneurship skills and how to create products of your art for your own business.
